Star Tree Program

The Hazard Independent School District “Star Tree Program” once again demonstrated the power of community generosity by sponsoring over 150 Christmas gift bags for students across the district this holiday season.

Through the Star Tree Program, community members and supporters sponsored individual students, ensuring that all gifts were purchased new and thoughtfully selected to meet student needs. Each sponsored gift bag represented a personal investment in a child and helps ensure a joyful Christmas experience for families in need.

Gift bags were distributed from the Roy G. Eversole Gym, where rows of carefully labeled packages filled the space. The program was coordinated through the district’s Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC).

“The Star Tree Program is about sponsorship and care,” said staff involved in the effort. “Each bag represents a student who was specifically sponsored by someone who wanted to make their Christmas special.”

The Star Tree Program allows families to receive support in a respectful and meaningful way, while giving sponsors the opportunity to directly impact a child’s holiday season. Thanks to this coordinated effort, more than 150 students will experience the excitement of opening gifts on Christmas morning.

Hazard Independent Schools extends sincere appreciation to all individuals and organizations who participated as sponsors and helped make this program a success. The district is grateful for the compassion and commitment shown to its students and families.

Families interested in learning more about the Star Tree Program or other support services are encouraged to contact their school’s Family Resource or Youth Service Center.
