Glass Hallway

The “Glass Hallway” at Roy G. Eversole Elementary is getting a meaningful facelift. One built on creativity, collaboration, and student voice.

Our 3rd and 4th grade students, alongside Teaching Artist Jenn Amburgey, transformed a busy hallway wall into a bold mural centered on a simple but powerful message: “Be the ‘I’ in Kind.” Positioned where students pass multiple times each day, the mural serves as a daily visual reminder of empathy, belonging, and shared responsibility. When students help create the message, they’re more likely to live it.

Adding to the transformation, our 4th grade barn quilt canvases are now proudly displayed throughout the hallway. Inspired by traditional barn quilt patterns and created with guidance from Teaching Artist Grace Henderson, these individual pieces come together to form a vibrant gallery celebrating student voice, teamwork, and Kentucky heritage.

This work was made possible through collaboration with the Partners for Rural Impact Community Service Grant and the leadership and coordination of School Coordinator Christine Cornwell. Their support helped bring this vision to life and ensured our students had meaningful opportunities to create, contribute, and connect.

The Glass Hallway now reflects who we are as a school! A place where creativity has purpose, student work is valued, and culture is built intentionally every day. Be sure to stop by and take a look. We are incredibly proud of our young artists. 💛💙Glass HallwayGlass Hallway
